Block Library import to Revit

Fire Alarm

Recommended Posts

I am new to revit and still figuring the ins and outs of it. Is it possible to convert or import my block library from Autocad to Revit?

Or do i need to create each new family, and is it possible to have all my devices in one family?

Thanks,

Andrew

Importing anything into Revit is not a viable solution so you'll have to relinquish any such thinking now that you've picked up the Revit platform.

As for Families, this depends on the Family itself. What type of device is it will be the first question. Alarm, Panels, etc will be on different Categories, will be in 3D with a symbolic version of it for Plan View. I would suggest opening existing Fire Alarm families and having a tinker with them first. Small edits to exiting Families will ensure they're working properly.

I would also suggest looking into some basic training if your company can find the budget.
